Battle of the Titans: Dallas Mavericks Take on Milwaukee Bucks in Epic Showdown of NBA Talent

The National Basketball Association made the decision to postpone games in both Memphis and Milwaukee on Sunday due to severe winter weather conditions affecting travel across a large part of the United States.

The Dallas Mavericks were unable to fly to Milwaukee for their scheduled game against the Bucks on Sunday night, despite attempting to do so twice, leading to the announcement of the game’s postponement a few hours before tipoff. Food that was prepared for the game was donated to shelters in Milwaukee as a result.

The game between the Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies was also postponed on Sunday, with the announcement coming three hours prior to tipoff.

Additionally, the league adjusted the start times for two games on Monday: the Philadelphia 76ers at Charlotte Hornets will now tip off at 3 p.m. ET, and the Indiana Pacers at Atlanta Hawks at 1:30 p.m.

The Memphis area experienced a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain starting early Saturday and continuing into Sunday. Authorities advised against travel due to hazardous road conditions caused by the wintry weather and low temperatures.

The Nuggets were planning to fly out of Memphis International Airport on Sunday, depending on weather conditions, for their upcoming game at home against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. The Grizzlies are set to play the Houston Rockets on Monday.

The NBA G League game between the Memphis Hustle and Stockton Kings scheduled for Monday in Southaven, Mississippi, was postponed and rescheduled for Feb. 19.

In the college basketball realm, multiple women’s games including No. 17 Tennessee against No. 18 Mississippi and Tulane against Memphis were postponed, with rescheduled dates pending. A men’s game involving Tennessee at No. 21 Georgia was also pushed back from Tuesday to Wednesday.

There were additional schedule adjustments for several Sunday games without new dates announced. The changes follow prior rescheduling efforts throughout the week in preparation for the winter storm.

Separately, on Saturday, the NBA postponed a game between the Warriors and Timberwolves to prioritize community safety following a fatal shooting near where the Timberwolves play in Minneapolis.
