The Los Angeles Clippers will face the Dallas Mavericks on Friday as they attempt to break out of their current four-game losing streak, which marks their worst stretch since their resurgence late last December.

The Clippers, with a record of 34-36, had reached a high point of two games above .500 on March 13 after a solid 7-1 run. However, consecutive losses to the New Orleans Pelicans have now put them on the four-game skid.

Facing the Pelicans without their top scorers Kawhi Leonard, Darius Garland, and Bennedict Mathurin in Thursday’s 105-99 loss, the Clippers have been dealing with health issues. Leonard has been sidelined due to an ankle injury, while Garland and Mathurin are both recovering from toe injuries.

While Leonard’s availability remains uncertain, Mathurin is ruled out, and Garland’s status is not listed on the latest injury report.

Despite missing key players, the Clippers showed more resilience in Thursday’s game against the Pelicans, with Derrick Jones Jr. scoring 22 points and John Collins adding 18.

Coach Tyronn Lue highlighted missed opportunities as a key issue for the team in recent games, noting the failure to convert in transition despite forcing turnovers.

With 12 regular-season games left, the Clippers are still securely holding a play-in tournament spot in the competitive Western Conference.

On the other side, the Mavericks (23-47) are looking to end a 10-game losing streak at home and have faced challenges with 11 losses in their last 13 games. They suffered a 135-120 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, allowing one of the highest point totals of the season.

Dallas had some bright spots in the loss, with Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington contributing on the scoreboard. However, a remarkable long-distance shot by the Hawks’ Jonathan Kuminga highlighted the Mavericks’ tough season.

Despite the setbacks, Dallas rookies such as Cooper Flagg and Ryan Nembhard have shown promise. Nembhard’s playmaking skills, recording 12 assists with zero turnovers in the recent game, have impressed coach Jason Kidd.

In their previous encounter this season, the Clippers narrowly clinched a double-overtime victory against the Mavericks. However, key contributors from that game such as James Harden and Ivica Zubac have since been traded.
